My Other Creations: Scrap Tag Notebooks Using Tim Holtz's Wildflowers Dies

"Winter Blues" is this week's theme at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog, so I made some scrap tag notebooks with wildflowers on them to combat the gray and the slush.  AND, I made a tutorial video for these, which you can see further down in the post.

I started  by cutting some tags out of Strathmore Mixed Media paper.  I painted them with black gesso and then a layer of black acrylic paint and folded them in half.

Next I smooshed white acrylic paint through a Dot Fade stencil onto the tags.

Using my fingers, I smudged on some acrylic paint in different colors.

I added scraps of patterned paper here and there and some wildflowers.  Then I brushed some more acrylic paint over the top once I was done.  I also added a little stamping in black ink.

Along the way, I also added some ring dies from Seth Apter and Simon Says Stamp and closed the notebooks with paperclips.

I used scraps of paper for the inside of the notebooks, too.  I cut the pages the same size as the tags, laid them out flat and sewed the booklet down the middle with my sewing machine to keep all the inside pages in place.

And here's a video of the process for those who are interested:

You know I'm a crazy notebook-a-holic and these were fun ones to try my hand at.  Here are the supplies I used that you can find at Simon Says Stamp:
